While most wildflower meadows are hand-seeded, the City of Onkaparinga established their meadow by using 'hydroseeding' which involves spraying liquid mulch mixed with wildflower seeds.
Widlfower seed mix used: Marvellous Meadows.
Stage 1 - Clean Seedbed
All existing grasses and weeds were removed to create a clean seedbed.
Stage 2 - Hydroseeding Seeds
A process that involves mixing wildflower seeds with liquid mulch and then sprayed onto a cleared seedbed.

]]>Little Apple Tree is a family-owned Child Care Centre nestled among the gums in Gold Coast’s famously green hinterland.
Owner and Director Sascha Valewink created a beautiful Meadow Flower garden at Little Apple Tree’s entrance. This offered the children an opportunity to watch the flowers grow, pick them when they bloomed, and immerse themselves in nature right at the front door.
“At Little Apple Tree we have an environment which enables the children to be truly in nature and connect with nature every day they come to kindy,” Sascha says.
“This is why we chose Meadow Flowers’s beautiful Honey Bee & Butterfly Mix to greet the Children and families as they entered and left each day.
“This article discusses the trend away from nature in our current lives and the window of opportunity that exists for children to make connections at an early age.”
“Not only was the mix of wildflowers beautiful but easy to plant and grow by following the Meadow Flowers How to Sow guide,” Sascha says. “My husband and I did it all one Saturday”.
“Over winter is a perfect time to get the ground prepared and ready for planting in Spring.
“Next time we plant seeds like these I would like to involve the children to create a deeper learning experience.”

We recently worked with the council to advise them how to successfully sow their wildflower seed mixes, and the results speak for themselves.
After sowing our Hampton Court mix in early November, only 10 weeks later the wildflowers were thriving and continued through until June!
Pictured are before and after shots of the totally transformed site.
Ground and soil preparation is key for a successful bloom.
