Description

This Australian native Paper Daisy mixed seeds is a very widespread native perennial species across Australia and is one of the best-known and most popular of the "paper daisies".

These colourful, vibrant blooms in shades of sunny yellow, fiery orange, pretty pink, and deep red brighten up any space. They have a commanding presence, reaching up to heights of 45 cm and petal-like bracts on their flower petals that are papery to the touch, giving them a dry, everlasting look that holds up beautifully even when they are cut and dried.

The best part? Strawflower seeds are drought-tolerant and easy to maintain, making them the perfect choice for experienced gardeners and those just starting out. They grow beautifully in native-style landscapes, pots on the balconies, sunny garden beds, borders, rockeries, and even coastal spots.

The leaves are typically large, up to 100mm long, and range from green to grey-green in colour. While the individual flowers are tiny, they form dense clusters surrounded by bright, papery bracts. What looks like a single large flower is actually a cluster of many tiny flowers, with the colourful bracts acting as showy "petals." In fact, there can be over a hundred true flowers nestled within the ring of bracts.

Planting Guide

They benefit from regular light pruning annually to encourage branching and a greater number of flowers. Severe pruning to overcome "legginess" may be successful, but only as a last resort.

Exceptional

The sweetest little packages, received in a very timely manner during the holiday period.
I appreciate the advice regarding ideal soil and planting and now have time to prepare before my dream (perfectly chaotic) backyard meadow is ready to enjoy. Bring on the bees!
