Life moves fast, and sometimes ridiculously so. Between the constant pings, overflowing inboxes and endless rush from one thing to the next, it's easy to feel less like you're living and more like you're fighting fires. However, a moment of calm might be waiting for you just right outside your window, on your windowsill, or in a tiny pot on your balcony.

Costa explores the wildflower meadow at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

The wildflower meadow at the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney was established in 2016 and visited by Costa during the 32nd series of Gardening Australia. We were thrilled that flowers from our seeds were shown in the ABC's Gardening Australia Field of Blooms video.Back in 2016, the meadow was just a seedling of an idea to introduce beneficial insects into the city's green space. Under the guidance of Brad Doherty, a horticulturist at the Gardens, what started as a modest patch has flourished into a sprawling 2,000 square metre haven for wildlife. You can watch another beautiful meadow flower video here which shows close ups of beautiful flowers grown from our seeds in the Wild Meadow at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. This vibrant meadow has become a sanctuary for bees and butterflies, and it's even drawn in parasitic wasps, which have played a crucial role in managing aphid populations - a common pest in the area. The careful selection of wildflowers has not only added aesthetic value to the urban environment but also bolstered the local ecosystem. The wildflower meadow at the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney continues to flourish. Today, it stands as a testament to the Garden's commitment to urban ecological enrichment, attracting a diverse array of pollinators and beneficial insects. Meadow Flowers, in its ongoing partnership with the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney, is delighted to supply its premium wildflower seeds for the continuous reseeding of the meadow.  Our contribution ensures the meadow remains a dynamic and integral part of the Gardens.

Wildflower Meadows at The City of Onkaparinga, South Australia

Wildflower Meadows at The City of Onkaparinga, South Australia

The City of Onkaparinga first purchased some of our wildflower seed mixes in April 2021 to create their 'Wildflower Wonder' at Woodcroft’s Robert Wright Park. Their goal was to create a more feasible (cost-effective) and beautiful option in contrast to a lawn in metropolitan conditions and to add a touch of wildness to local reserves and parks. They then expanded their meadow to Thalassa Park, Aberfoyle.  While most wildflower meadows are hand-seeded, the City of Onkaparinga established their meadow by using 'hydroseeding' which involves spraying liquid mulch mixed with wildflower seeds. Widlfower seed mix used: Marvellous Meadows. Stage 1 - Clean Seedbed All existing grasses and weeds were removed to create a clean seedbed. Stage 2 - Hydroseeding Seeds A process that involves mixing wildflower seeds with liquid mulch and then sprayed onto a cleared seedbed. Meadow flowers in a planter box at the entrance of Little Apple Tree childcare centre

Children Learn about Nature with Meadow Flowers Australia

Little Apple Tree | Montessori Early Learning Centre | Child Care Robina Little Apple Tree is a family-owned Child Care Centre nestled among the gums in Gold Coast’s famously green hinterland.  Owner and Director Sascha Valewink created a beautiful Meadow Flower garden at Little Apple Tree’s entrance. This offered the children an opportunity to watch the flowers grow, pick them when they bloomed, and immerse themselves in nature right at the front door. “At Little Apple Tree we have an environment which enables the children to be truly in nature and connect with nature every day they come to kindy,” Sascha says.  “This is why we chose Meadow Flowers’s beautiful Honey Bee & Butterfly Mix to greet the Children and families as they entered and left each day.  “This article discusses the trend away from nature in our current lives and the window of opportunity that exists for children to make connections at an early age.” “Not only was the mix of wildflowers beautiful but easy to plant and grow by following the Meadow Flowers How to Sow guide,” Sascha says. “My husband and I did it all one Saturday”.  “Over winter is a perfect time to get the ground prepared and ready for planting in Spring.  “Next time we plant seeds like these I would like to involve the children to create a deeper learning experience.” Wildflower seed mix used: Honey Bee & Butterfly Mix. Check out our WA-version here.

Wildflower Meadow - City Council of Greater Dandenong, Victoria

Our very own wildflower seed mixes have been attracting a lot of attention from people and busy bees at the City of Greater Dandenong. We recently worked with the council to advise them how to successfully sow their wildflower seed mixes, and the results speak for themselves. After sowing our Hampton Court mix in early November, only 10 weeks later the wildflowers were thriving and continued through until June! Pictured are before and after shots of the totally transformed site.  Ground and soil preparation is key for a successful bloom.
