2.	Sow the Seeds: Mix seeds with vermiculite, scatter evenly, press gently into the soil, cover with a thin layer of sugarcane mulch to protect from wildlife, and water thoroughly.
3.	Let Nature Take Over: Spring rains help seeds settle. Your wildflowers will be ready for a colourful debut in late spring.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right wildflower mix?
One of the biggest reasons meadows don’t thrive is choosing the wrong mix for your space. The next most common issue? Skipping proper soil prep. Start by checking how much sun your patch gets — full sun, part shade, or something in between — and the type of soil you’re working with, whether it’s sandy, clay, dry, or rich. Each of our mixes is crafted with these conditions in mind, so picking the right one gives your flowers the best chance to bloom beautifully. Still unsure? How do I sow my seeds?
Please follow our How to Sow guide to ensure best results when sowing. This will give you a step by step guide of preparing, maintaining and caring for your flower bed. Skipping steps or tweaking can result in a less thriving meadow. If you have any specific questions or queries in relation to your area, you can email us at contact@meadowflowers.com.au
Do I need to prepare my soil for sowing wildflower seeds?
Absolutely. For the best results, a clear, clean, and healthy seedbed is essential to help seeds take root and establish properly. Wildflower meadows will not thrive if sown among grass, weeds, or other plants, as they will compete for sunlight, nutrients, and water.
How much seed do I need?
It depends on how much area you’re covering. We recommend 2-3 grams per square meter to ensure great flowering coverage and inhibit weed growth. Please do not exceed the recommended amount. Remember, more seeds do not equal more flowers. In fact, it will lead to competition, resulting in fewer flowers! For example, if you have 30 square meters, we recommend 60-90 grams of seeds.
Are the wildflower seed mixes suitable for grazing animals?
Our wildflower seed mixes are not specifically formulated for grazing animals. We do not recommend sowing them in areas where grazing animals have access, as some species in the mixes can be harmful if ingested.
Can I mix different seed mixes together?
No, you should not mix different seed mixes together. Each seed mix is curated with species that grow well together without competition. Mixing different seed mixes can lead to competition among the plants, resulting in fewer flowers blooming.
