Why You'll Love It
A garden classic that just keeps giving, Nasturtium Jewel Mix produces double, slightly ruffled blooms in vivid shades of gold, orange, red and yellow, held well above the foliage on a compact, non-trailing plant. Growing to around 30cm, it's an easy fit for pots, borders, containers, hanging baskets and small garden spaces.
Easy to grow and genuinely low maintenance, it thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers poor to average, well-drained soil, rich soil tends to mean more leaves and fewer flowers. It blooms prolifically from summer right through to the first frosts and is well-loved by bees and butterflies.
Both the flowers and leaves are edible, with a peppery, slightly sweet flavour. It's also a useful companion plant near the vegetable patch, acting as a trap crop for aphids and helping draw pest pressure away from brassicas, cucumbers and tomatoes.
