Why You'll Love It
Dwarf Catmint 'Clear Blue' is a charming perennial catmint prized for its masses of clear blue flowers and compact, spreading habit. From spring through summer, its slender flower spikes rise above aromatic grey-green foliage, creating a soft wash of blue that works beautifully in garden borders, cottage gardens and informal plantings.
A favourite with pollinators, the flowers are particularly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects, making this a lovely choice for a wildlife-friendly garden. Its silvery foliage also provides interest when the plant is not in flower. The aromatic foliage is also generally resistant to deer and rabbits, while the plant is well suited to hot conditions and poorer soils, provided the soil is well drained.
With its neat growth habit and extended flowering season, ‘Clear Blue’ catmint is well suited to the front of garden beds, along pathways, in rockeries or planted amongst other perennials. It can also be grown in containers where its trailing, mounding habit can spill gently over the edge.
Once established, Nepeta is relatively low maintenance and can be a rewarding addition to a sunny garden. Regularly removing spent flower spikes can encourage further flowering and help keep plants looking tidy.
