Why You'll Love It
A softer take on a garden classic, California Poppy Alba brings the same silky, cup-shaped blooms as the traditional California Poppy, but in a luminous cream white that pairs beautifully with almost any colour palette. Set against fine, blue-green feathery foliage, the flowers open wide in full sun and close again at dusk or on overcast days.
Forming a low, spreading mound around 30cm tall, it's a natural fit for pots, borders, rockeries, containers and meadow-style plantings. Genuinely easy to grow, it thrives in poor, dry, well-drained soil and full sun, and once established, needs very little water or attention. Deadheading regularly will extend the flowering season.
A reliable favourite with bees and other pollinators, it self-seeds readily once established.
Please note: California Poppy may be invasive. To keep it contained to your garden, deadhead spent blooms regularly before they set seed. The plant can be harmful if eaten, so keep away from children and pets.
